OKLAHOMA CITY – Governor Mary Fallin today announced that she had been reappointed to the Executive Committee of the National Governor’s Association as well as being reappointed to the NGA Economic Development and Commerce Committee.
“I’m extremely pleased to be able to continue in a leadership role at the National Governor’s Association,” Fallin said. “Serving on the executive committee ensures that Oklahomans will continue to have a voice as we work to develop state-based solutions to the many challenges facing the nation.”
The nine-member Executive Committee sets the NGA’s priorities and determines its activities. Members include:
• NGA Chair Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman
• NGA Vice Chair Delaware Gov. Jack Markell
• Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper
• Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels
• Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick
• Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton
• New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie
• Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin
• Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire
The Economic Development and Commerce Committee has jurisdiction over a broad range of issues in the areas of transportation infrastructure, telecommunications, international trade promotion, financial services regulation, science and technology development and affordable housing. Members of the committee ensure that the governors’ views are represented in the shaping of federal policy.
“As governor, my number one priority has always been to bring more and better jobs to the state of Oklahoma,” Fallin said. “The NGA’s Economic Development and Commerce Committee allows me to continue that work as part of an important national organization.”
Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback will serve as chair of the committee, and Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon will serve as vice chair. Other members include:
